Audi A7 first drive : Highlights

A detailed review of the car will follow in the coming week. But till then, here’s what special about the new Audi A7.

- The Audi A7’s design reeks of class and craftsmanship. No matter where you look at it from, it looks elegant; it’s something you’d love to look at every day and feel happy you bought it.

- It’s like a normal luxury car, easy to get in and out of, seats four in comfort and has most luxury features one associates with a Rs 95 lakh car.

- Yes, the base version of the car costs Rs 64 lakh. But if you want all the goodies like soft closing doors, night vision, heads up display, four-zone climate control, Bang and Olufsen sound system, keyless start and even a 20-way adjustable rear seat with ventilation and massage, the cost price of the car can go upto Rs 95 lakh.

- As with all Audis the A7 is immaculately built, beautifully finished and it exudes richness from all quarters.

- It is sold in India with two engine options. Both are 3-litre engines but the petrol makes over 300bhp while the diesel makes 245bhp. Both models however get to 100kmph from a standstill in no time. The top speed for both cars is limited to 250kmph.

- The A7 is a comfortable car. It rides well and has comfy seats too. It’s also very quiet inside the cabin.

- And the A7 handles superbly too. Thanks to quattro, the levels of grip are outstanding. The car also feels very light and nimble when chucked into corners. It’s entertaining to drive, no question.

So, is the new Audi A7 worth buying? And how does it compare to its competition? For these details and a lot more, watch this space for a detailed review.
